Subject Matter Authorization in Introductory Science

CTC-APPROVED PROGRAM

Want to "experiment" with teaching science? Add the subject of Science to your existing credential with the Subject Matter Authorization in Introductory Science.

The Subject Matter Authorization in Introductory Science is a program approved by the Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) and is No Child Left Behind (NCLB) compliant. This means that once all of the mandatory requirements of the program have been met, you will be authorized to teach 9th grade and below Science curriculum. Because this program is NCLB compliant, it gives you the necessary subject matter competency through coursework alone, versus having to take the California Subject Examinations for Teachers (CSET), as long as you do not want to teach a specific Science content area.

Science is an exciting and constantly changing field, with new discoveries and inventions at every turn. If you have a passion for this discipline and would like to share that with students – now is your chance! Expand your credential and turn your classroom into a mad scientist's lab; conduct fun experiments, develop hypotheses, and cultivate breakthrough inventions day in and day out!

Who Can Benefit?

This program is designed for teachers holding a valid Single Subject, Multiple Subject, Standard Elementary, Standard Secondary, or Special Secondary Teaching Credential who are interested in teaching Science.
