Professional Certificate in Screenwriting

Learn the art and craft of screenwriting by studying with professional writers who bring practical experience and diverse writing and teaching styles. Develop the unique voice in your writing while learning the technique and structure needed to break into today's film and television markets.

Participants in the program will:

  • Develop writing technique and structure
  • Learn the concept of "workshopping pages" and giving and receiving critical input
  • Gain insight into today's film and television market

This program is designed for anyone with an interest in screenwriting, whether for personal enrichment or for professional aspirations.

Completion Information

Completion Requirements


To earn the certificate, students must successfully complete (grade C or better) a total of 20 units as follows:

  • Required Courses – 15 units
  • Elective Courses – 5 units

Completion Time


The program can typically be completed within 9-12 months.

Cost


The cost to complete the program ranges from approximately $2,000 to $2,400. This does not include textbooks or materials unless otherwise noted.

Transfer Credit


Equivalent courses from other accredited colleges and universities completed within the last five years will be considered for transfer, up to a total of three units. Official transcripts are required.
