Supplementary Authorization in Introductory Science
CTC-APPROVED PROGRAM
Science is one of the few content areas that has survived the severe budget cuts in education, and districts are still looking for qualified Science teachers to add to their staff! Strengthen your teaching portfolio by earning a Supplementary Authorization in Introductory Science.
This program is approved by the Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) and allows you to teach departmentalized classes in 9th grade or below Science curriculum. Upon completion of the courses, the holder of a valid Multiple Subject or Standard Elementary Teaching Credential may add the subject of "Science" to his or her credential. The holder of a valid Single Subject or Standard Secondary Teaching Credential may add the subject of "Introductory Science" to his or her credential.
Adding a Supplementary Authorization in Introductory Science is a great way to expand your opportunities. If you are a science enthusiast and are looking to pursue another teaching avenue – this is your stop!
NOTE: This Authorization is not No Child Left Behind (NCLB) compliant; additional units are needed to meet the federal regulation requirements for subject matter competency.
Who Can Benefit?
This program is designed for teachers holding a valid Single Subject, Multiple Subject, Standard Elementary or Standard Secondary Teaching Credential who are interested in teaching Science.
