Expanding Horizons Grade 3 - 6

AM I Class 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Beginning Spanish

An introduction to the Spanish language and culture, including beginning conversation, games, songs, and traditional Spanish food.

Just "Plane" Fun

Sorry this class has been filled.

This is a hands-on, beginning Geometry course. Building on the fundamentals of elementary geometry, we will explore the concepts of 2 and 3-D shapes through origami, 3-D model construction, and problem solving. This course is designed for students who have not had a Geometry class.


AM II Class 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.


Hands-on Archaeology

Become Indiana Jones in this class where through exciting scientific activities you will explore your surroundings, collect data, and investigate your findings just like professional archaeologists.

The World is a Stage

Do you have a flare for drama or want to improve your public speaking skills? The world is your stage! You will be guided on the basic skills, concepts, and methods of drama and public speaking. The class will provide students the opportunity to strengthen the powers of concentration, focus, imagination, creativity and empathy through drama and public speaking.

Weaving My World In Words

Have you ever wanted to record your favorite memories or document your rich heritage? Using picture maps and simple outlines, you will be guided on how to put in written form your history into a bound book. Everyone has stories to tell... Come tell yours.

Riverside Alive!

Step back in time and experience the rich history of Riverside through hands-on activities. Preserve Riverside symbols on ceramic tiles, advertise your own citrus company, and experiment with a wide variety of oranges. Show your pride in Riverside!

Brain Games: Puzzle Me This!

Exercise your brain power by solving a variety of puzzles and playing games from around the world using numbers, words, pictures and shapes. You will also have the opportunity to create your own games. This class will stretch your intelligence while you are engaged in these fun and stimulating activities.

Modern Masters

Modern Art tells a story in unique ways and you can interpret the works of the 20th Century masters for yourself! Through a variety of mediums, you will create your own works of art in the style of renowned modern art masters. Your work will be displayed the final day as part of an exhibit.


Expanding Horizons Grade 7 & 8

AM I Class 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Geology Rocks!

Be ready to investigate what makes up the ground beneath us by using different scientific resources and technology. Analyze soil and rocks as you discover Riverside's very own geology riches. Students will have the opportunity to have hands on knowledge of the minerals and rocks that supports the foundation of the Inland Empire. They will become Rock Investigators!

Technology in Action

Expand your knowledge of computers, learn more about power points, and how to design a presentation through hands-on experience. Discover ways to refine your presentation materials by experimenting with graphics, interactive elements, animation, sound, and exploration of information links.

PM I Class 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.


Mosaic Math

Learn about and create colorful mosaics using various materials. Explore mathematical concepts such as percents, fractions, and decimals. Complete projects where art and math meet. Hands-on fun for all!

PM II Class 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.


Elements of Art

Explore the world of art. Have fun creating projects using different elements of art. Learn about color theory, primary, secondary, complimentary colors, and more! Use several mediums to create masterpieces. Get ready to expand your creativity!

Math Classes Grade 6 - 8

Awesome Algebra Action

Come and explore pre-algebra and algebra concepts! Learn about integers, order of operations, exponents, linear equations, algebraic expressions and more. Hands-on activities include using algebra tiles, paper folding, graphing, problem solving, and discussion. Designed for students who have not had an Algebra class or who are struggling with algebra.

Get goin' with Geometry

This geometry course is a hands-on exploration of area, surface area, volume, triangles, circles, and the Pythagorean Theorem. There will be an emphasis on conceptual understanding through interactive activities such as 3-D model construction, paper folding, hands-on exploration of 3-D figures, and problem solving. We will use and extend Algebra skills. Designed for students who have not had a Geometry class.
