Summer Academy

Professional Certificate in Digital Arts & Design

July 11 – August 5, 2016

The demand for graphic designers is expected to grow over the next decade, with opportunities in such fields as Web site design, advertising, publishing, and video entertainment. Come learn how to use the latest design software to create pieces that have an effective visual effect. You receive an intensive, in-depth exposure to digital design, digital media applications, branding and corporate identity and visual communication skills based on real-world practices. This program offers approximately 150 hours of professional level instruction from industry professionals with real-world experience.

Completion Requirements

To earn the certificate, students must successfully complete (grade B or better) a total of 15 required units.

Completion Time

The Summer Academy can be completed in four weeks. Classes meet Monday-Friday, 9 am-5 pm.


Fee includes all course materials, parking, a 12-month subscription to Adobe Creative Cloud Design Premium package, and portfolio reception.


It is recommended that you be familiar with digital design software or Adobe Creative Suite applications.

Additional Information


The courses in the Digital Arts and Design Academy are approved by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) and meet the requirements for the Specific Subject Supplementary Authorization in Graphic Arts. This CTC-approved credential may be added to a single subject, standard secondary, or specific secondary credential authorizing you to teach graphic arts in any grade level (preschool, K-12 inclusive, and classes organized primarily for adults). You can earn 15 units of credit.
