About UCR Extension

UC Riverside Extension: Reading out to the community

UC Riverside Extension is the continuing education and professional studies branch of the University of California, Riverside. It operates independently as a nonprofit division of UCR. For more than 50 years UCR Extension has served the Inland Empire community and international students and provided educational opportunities to people of all ages — with or without a college degree — seeking professional advancement, personal fulfillment or a new career.

Continuing education opportunities for everyone

We take pride in providing individual attention to students and to serving the community's changing needs.

UCR Extension enrolls approximately 30,000 students each year in approximately 1,800 catalog courses. Our courses are:

  • Open to the public.
  • Credit and noncredit courses, seminars and special programs.
  • Located in San Bernardino, Riverside, Inyo and Eastern Los Angeles counties.

We take pride in providing individual attention to students and to serving the community's changing needs. Course formats include one-day workshops, weekend programs, seminars, intensive short courses and courses that meet once a week during the 10-week academic quarter. Many classes are offered at night and on weekends to accommodate busy schedules. Custom-designed courses are also presented at employers' work sites.

You can enroll in one of more than 90 certificate programs, which offer concentrated study in specific fields. A certificate program is a sequence of courses that helps you acquire practical instruction to stay current with new developments in your field, qualify for a new job or justify a promotion, or change careers completely.

Many of UCR Extension's academic programs are developed in conjunction with, and are sometimes taught by, UCR faculty, thus ensuring that students receive the same uncompromising standard of excellence upheld by the University.

A Full-Service Conference Facility

An average of 25,000 people use UCR Extension's full-service conference space annually. Located in the heart of Inland Southern California, the center features ample, flexible space that can serve everything from a small meeting to a very large conference requiring many rooms, services and personnel.

International Education Programs

An additional 4,000 international students from more than 100 different countries attend classes offered by UCR Extension's International Education Programs. The Intensive English Program is one of the five largest in the United States. International students can also take professional programs, such as Global Business Management.
