Come spend a lazy summer afternoon in a cool theater watching critically acclaimed movies with a group of like-minded adults.
UCR Extension and the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute are co-sponsoring the Screening Room Summer Series with the Regency Theaters, University Village 10, 1201 A University Ave., Riverside.
Sandra Richards, UCR Extension’s Director of Humanities and the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, said the series was developed for UCR Extension’s community of lifelong learners. It includes Oscar-nominated movies: “Invictus,” “Like Water for Chocolate,” and “Little Miss Sunshine.” Currently, the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute offers college-level courses for adults, 50 and older, during the regular academic year.
“Hopefully, those who attend the film series will see it as a combination of getting to see great films, hanging out with a fun community of learners and staying cool this summer,” Richards said.
All performances begin at 1:30 p.m. Cost is $55 for all eight performances; $25 for four performances, and $7.50 for a single performance.
Films include:
- “Slumdog Millionaire,” June 5
- “La Vie En Rose,” June 12
