Certificate in Teaching Advanced Placement Program*

This certificate program has been developed in collaboration with the College Board and is one of the first in the nation. The certificate program provides teachers with content knowledge, pedagogical skills, leadership approaches and instructional strategies.

The program consists of four required and two elective courses totaling 17 quarter units and will provide information in the following areas:

• Overview of Advanced Placement Program*
• Philosophy and Process for Scoring Exams
• Grading Procedures
• Role of Vertical Teams
• Who Should Take Advanced Placement Program* Classes
• Relationship of Honors and Other Classes That Lead to an Advanced Placement Program* Course
• ...and others

Admission
The program is open to anyone who has an undergraduate major or its equivalent in an academic content area or related field offered in the certificate program. Individuals not pursuing a certificate may enroll in any course with the instructor's approval and if all prerequisites have been met.
