Personal Financial Planning Certificate

The Personal Financial Planning program has long been a flagship certificate program throughout University of California. Thousands of financial planning professionals have developed and honed their skills through this comprehensive program that fulfills the educational requirements to sit for the national board Certified Financial Planner examination.

Objectives
Participants in this program explore various aspects of financial planning, including insurance and risk management, investments, estate and benefit planning. The program begins with a survey of the role of financial planning in development of a portfolio and concludes with a capstone course designed to bridge the various financial planning functionalities into a comprehensive financial planning process. One additional course, Cash Flow Analysis, provides participants with a thorough understanding of how to use cash flow analysis to ensure clients are able to meet current and future financial obligations.

Who Can Benefit
This program is tailored to meet the specific needs of anyone who wishes to pursue a specialized study in financial planning. Although the program is designed for the professional planner, many individuals take courses or the entire program for personal interest in order to better manage their personal financial situation. The program adheres to the strict requirements to sit for the exam to become a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation. This credential is the premiere designation for professionals who develop, administer and recommend financial planning strategies, products and services.

Industry Connection
This program helps prepare students to sit for the CFP® Certification Examination. UCR Extension does not certify individuals to use the CFP®, Certified Financial Planner™, and certification marks. CFP certification is granted only by Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Inc. to those persons who, in addition to completing an educational requirement such as this CFP Board-Registered Program, have met its ethics, experience and examination requirements.
