Forensic Nursing Certificate

Certificate Requirements
The Certificate requires
successful completion of 16 units: 14 units of required courses
and two elective units. Participants must
receive a grade of C or better in all courses.
Program Prerequisites
To participate in this program, participants must be a registered nurse, licensed vocational nurse or equivalent, nurse practitioner, physician, physician's assistant, SANE certified nurse, licensed paramedic, or have the consent of the UCR Extension Program Coordinator.
Transfer Credit
Participants may transfer a maximum of two elective units from
an accredited university or college. Elective courses must be related
to forensic sciences, criminology or similar programs. Official
transcripts are required. Registered Nurse continuing education totaling 20 hours or more may be acceptable in lieu of university/college level credit. These hours may be a combination of professional meetings, SANE training and other workshops where continuing education was earned. Submit a copy of your certificate of completion along with the name and contact information of the training provider (for verification purposes). Extension will contact you if credit is accepted.
Usual Completion Time
Students generally complete the certificate in nine to 18 months.
Computer Requirements
You will need access to the Internet, an e-mail account and MS Word 98 or later (all graphics will open in Word). A high-speed connection such as DSL or cable is highly recommended.
