Is there a specific sequence in which courses should be taken?
Yes. Students should if at all possible start with "Introduction to Interior Design" followed by "Color Theory and Its Application" and "Drafting I."
Many courses will build upon one another and students need to pay attention
to course prerequisites.
How much will it cost to complete the entire certificate?
Tuition for all courses is approximately $4,000. This does not include textbooks or materials.
I am interested in taking only one or two courses. Do I have to enroll in the entire certificate program or are courses available for individual enrollment?
All courses are open for individual enrollment as long as any prerequisites are met. Students may take the entire program or choose to select individual courses on topics most beneficial to them.
Will I become a certified interior designer upon completion of the program?
No. To become a certified interior designer one must successfully sit for and pass the NCIDQ Examination. The eligibility requirements reflect the guiding principle that at least six years combined of college-level interior design education and interior design work experience are essential to prepare you for the examination and professional practice. For more information on the examination requirements and process, please go to www.ncidq.org.
