Parenting and Communication Skills Certificate

Admission
The program is open to educators and parents. It is recommended that participants have taken some university-level coursework and have parenting, classroom teaching or related experience.

Completion Requirements
To earn the certificate, students must successfully complete 16 quarter units comprised of four required courses and six units of elective courses. A grade point average of B or better and a minimum grade of C in each course is required.

Program Length
Each unit of course credit is the equivalent of 10 classroom hours. This 16 quarter-unit certificate program may be completed within a one- to two-year period, depending upon course schedules and the number of units an individual takes in a given quarter.

Transfer Credit
A maximum of four quarter units from other accredited four-year institutions may be transferred if they have been completed within the past five years. Relevant courses taken through UCR Extension prior to program application may be credited toward the certificate.
