Advanced School Counseling: Interpersonal and Proactive Skills Certificate
Program Prerequisites
The Certificate in Interpersonal and Proactive Skills for School Counselors is open to anyone who has a valid Pupil Personnel Credential and is interested in enhancing their skills, knowledge and attitudes to help all students. Individuals not pursuing a certificate may enroll in any course with the program coordinator's approval and if all prerequisites have been met.
Completion Requirements
To earn the certificate, students must successfully complete 20
quarter units comprised of 12 units of required courses and eight
units of emphasis courses. After all course requirements have
been satisfied, a candidate may request that his or her certificate
be issued. Upon verification of program completion, a certificate
will be issued.
Classes are offered quarterly and it is anticipated
an individual could complete the program in one and a half
years.
Transfer Credit
Up to four quarter units of credit from other institutions is permitted if the courses relate directly to the content of certificate coursework. Applicable courses taken through University Extension prior to enrollment may be counted toward the certificate. Coursework must be taken within the last five years. Requests for transfer credit must be in writing and official transcripts and course outlines must accompany the request. The Director of Education Extension must approve the requests for transfer credit.
