The Certificate in Leadership, Advocacy, Data, and Accountability Skills for School Counselors has evolved from the need for quality professional development for practicing school counselors. This certificate provides the opportunity for counselors to remain current in counselor education and learn methods for developing appropriate school counseling programs for all students.

Coursework in the certificate emphasizes the development of skills, knowledge and attitudes to help all students in the areas of academic, career and personal/social development, and examines current counselor education trends and philosophies.

The Certificate in Leadership, Advocacy, Data, and Accountability Skills for School Counselors provides coursework in developing personal leadership and advocacy skills to promote success for all students and development of a data driven school counseling program. The integration of the National Standards and the National Model for School Counseling programs is embedded into the program. The certificate program will allow counselors to focus on data and accountability to ensure success for all students.

The program includes emphasis in specific content areas that provide school counselors the knowledge and resources to focus on the development of personal leadership and advocacy skills or to focus on data and accountability of their school counseling program.

The certificate program includes 8 units of core courses and 12 units of emphasis courses. Coursework emphasizes the development of leadership and advocacy skills, knowledge and attitudes to promote success for all students in the areas of academic, career and personal/social development. Development of a data driven school counseling program is also a focus of coursework.

Objectives
The certificate program examines current counselor education, trends in research, leadership and advocacy and will assist counselors in focusing on data and accountability to ensure success for all students.
