Designed to give you a detailed overview of healthcare law, focusing on subjects as diverse as:

  • health care regulation
  • fraud and abuse
  • human subject research
  • compliance programs
  • physician contracting. 

At the conclusion of this course, you will have a broad understanding of the many different areas that make up the body of health care law.

Instructor:

James Reed

James Reed, J.D., Deputy General Counsel, Hospital Operations and Compliance, Eisenhower Medical Center, Rancho Mirage, has been practicing healthcare law for more than 20 years as a law firm attorney, a federal attorney, and an in-house corporate attorney.  He has become a specialist in many key areas of healthcare law, including contracts between healthcare entities, federal and state regulatory compliance, risk management, labor and employment, medical billing and reimbursement, corporate governance, process improvement, and health systems operations.  Mr. Reed also has extensive experience in and knowledge of patient rights, organ procurement and transplant, medical staff issues, international telemedicine, and hospital clinic site operations. He has written hundreds of complex briefs on Medicare reimbursement issues, and negotiated contracts and transactions for buying and selling hospitals and skilled nursing facilities.
