The Next Generation Science Standards

This course presents the fundamental structure of the Framework K-12 Science Education and the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), and includes:

  • an overview of the structure of NGSS
  • the framework vision
  • disciplinary core ideas in physical, life, earth and space sciences
  • engineering, technology, and application of sciences
  • scientific and engineering practices
  • crosscutting concepts

You will learn the Framework vision of what it means to be proficient in science; how to explain the interrelationship among practices, cross-disciplinary concepts, and core ideas; to become proficient in integrating practices, crosscutting concepts, and core ideas; to develop performance expectations that combine the three dimensions; and how we link Science, Engineering, and Technology. Modeling and hands-on activities appropriate for K-12 classroom are presented. This course is also aligned to the Common Core State Standards in Mathematics.

Mr. Hudec has been a noted presenter at several National Science Teachers Association Conferences and California Science Teachers Conferences.
