Pupil Personnel Services Credential
Mission Statement
Our mission is to prepare highly qualified Pupil Personnel Services professionals who are leaders and advocates for all students, promoting access, equity, and social justice through family, school, and community collaboration.

Application and Admission Requirements

Each student is required to submit a formal application to the credential program. The qualifications for admission to the credential program are as follows:
- Possess a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution with a minimum grade point average (based on a four-point scale) of 3.0. For purposes of admission to this program, the GPA is calculated by averaging the last 90 quarter units of undergraduate work with any post-graduate work.
- Passage of a basic skills proficiency examination that is approved by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing. http://www.ctc.ca.gov/credentials/leaflets/cl667.pdf
- Candidates should possess self motivation, a belief that all K-12 students can achieve an interest in collaboration with other professionals, skills to develop proactive programs to help students succeed, and an interest in developing technology and data utilization skills.
- Submission of completed application packet including:
a. Completed application form
b. Official transcripts of all college coursework
c. Verification of having passed a basic skills proficiency examination
d. Current résumé
- Personal Statement (500 words or less) that reflects your:
a. Prior experiences with children through work and volunteer experiences
b.
Leadership and advocacy experiences
c.
Educational and career goals
d.
Personal attributes that you possess to support all students achieve success
- Three letters of recommendation that reflect your leadership ability, volunteer experiences, work experience with children, academic ability and willingness to advocate for others. These letters should be from the following:
a.
School administrator/supervisor (i.e. principal or vice principal)
b. Credentialed school counselor or school psychologist
c. A person familiar with your job performance
- Copy of all California credentials currently held or Certificate of Clearance http://www.ctc.ca.gov/
- Signed statement verifying absence of criminal record that would preclude the State from issuing a credential. (Signature on application form or possession of valid California teaching credential fulfills this requirement)
- Application fee of $50. (Make check payable to "Regents UC".)
- Course descriptions or course syllabi if appropriate coursework taken within the last five years
- Proof of TB test taken within the last two years
- Yearly proof of current school counselor liability insurance is required
