Japanese Culture Program
Fukuyama, Japan
September 6-16, 2009 (dates are tentative)

Spend 10 days in Japan studying at Fukuyama University while living with a Japanese family.

This successful Japanese Culture Program, offered by UCR Extension, is ideal for those who are interested in learning more about Japanese culture or those who are planning to visit Japan for the first time.

Students take several day trips, including visits to Hiroshima Peace Park, Fukuyama Noh Theatre, Tomonoura, Koraku-en, the Miyajima Itukushima Shrine, Kosan Temple, the Japan Footwear Museum and the Japan Folk Toy and Doll Museum.

Study includes Japanese history, religion and politics; Ikebana, the art of flower arranging; Japanese food and cooking; the tea ceremony; and cultural mores, fashion and style.

The fee is $400, which includes room and board and nonrefundable deposit. Airfare and travel incidentals are not included.

Plan to arrive on Sept. 4 or 5.
