Education Extension

"Education should not be looked upon as the mere acquisition of academic subject matter but as part of life itself."

John Dewey

The Education Department at UCR Extension offers 18 state-approved credential and certificate programs, 25 Extension certificate programs and 800 courses throughout the year. Approximately 9,600 educators from California, other parts of the United States, and throughout the world choose to take courses here every year.

In addition to a full array of professional development courses required for all teachers, Education offers outstanding instruction in Early Childhood Education, Advanced Placement studies, Gifted and Talented Education, Child Welfare and Attendance, various Reading certificates and Pupil Personnel and School Services. Education Services:
A Resource Center for Teachers at UCR's Rivera Library

Education Services is a teachers resource center of K-12 curriculum materials and children's literature on the 2nd floor of the Rivera Library. It is open to the public and available to Extension students. Big books, lesson planning ideas, educational games and manipulatives are just some of the resources teachers will find to support their instruction.

Education Services also hosts the Learning Resources Display Center for Riverside County, where textbook publishers display their materials which either have been adopted or are being reviewed for adoption in California public schools. Contact Education Services at 951-827-3715 or online at library.ucr.edu/go/edservices.
