UCR Extension offers new class in Coachella Valley about problem gambling
RIVERSIDE, CALIF. – Problem gambling wrecks lives, tears apart homes and often leads to crimes that help support the gambler’s addiction. According to the National Council on Problem Gambling, approximately 2 million U.S. adults meet criteria for pathological gambling in a given year. UCR Extension offers the new class Understanding Problem Gambling from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 19 at UCR Palm Desert Graduate Center, 75-080 Frank Sinatra Dr.
If you suspect a family member or friend may have a gambling problem, this course is designed to help you. Mental health professionals and clergy are also encouraged to attend. This course explores structuring effective interventions and includes emphasis on how both teens and seniors can become victims of this debilitating addiction. MFT/LCSW and registered nurses continuing education credit is available. The fee is $95.
