Get creative this summer with new classes at UCR Extension in illustrating, painting and book design
RIVERSIDE, CALIF. – Invigorate your imagination and get creative this summer. Learn to paint with watercolor, draw in pencil or illustrate children’s books. UCR Extension, located at 1200 University Ave., Riverside, is offering a number of classes this summer that will teach you how to transform your inner imaginative world into art that you can share with others.
Create extraordinarily realistic drawings using the simple pencil in the class Introduction to Pencil Drawing, which meets from 6 to 9 p.m. on Mondays, June 23 to July 21.
With brush, water and color, learn how to create beautiful images of flowers and gardens in the class Beginning Watercolor Painting – Flowers and Gardens. This class meets from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Wednesdays from June 25 through Aug. 13.
Take your painting outside in the class, Plein-Air Water Color Painting Intensive. This class meets from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturdays from July 12 through July 26. Expect the opportunity to paint at UCR’s Botanical Gardens. Before the class is over, you will create three original compositions.
Book lovers will be interested in the class, Illustrating Children’s Books, where participants learn to design an entire children’s book as a complete art form. Learn to pair illustrations with stories, pace action and dialogue, push the envelope of style, and use art supplies effectively. This class meets from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursday on July 15, 17 and 22.
