Acquiring a UCR NetID
Looking for help setting up your account?
Follow our step-by-step instructions.
| As of November 2007, UCR Extension began participating in a campus-wide identification system that generates a NetID to provide access to the campus wireless network, online resources and classes using Blackboard. |
 |
| Who Gets a NetID? |
People who need and/or can obtain a NetID include:
- UCR Students enrolled in a UCR Extension class that allows having a NetID
- UCR Students enrolled in a UCR Extension class that uses Blackboard
- UCR All UCR Extension class instructors.
|
 |
| How Do I Get a NetID? |
If you are in one of the above groups, UCR Extension will send you an e-mail with the information needed to use the Net ID Service in the following pages and set up a UCR NetID account. |
 |
| Active/Inactive NetIDs |
Once the system has given you a NetID, it remains yours indefinitely. It will go inactive, depending on classes you are taking or teaching, but when it is needed again, for example, for a Blackboard class, it will
automatically be reactivated. NetIDs go inactive as follows:
- Instructors - 1 year after last class
- Students active in certificate programs - 6 months after last class
- All other students - 1 quarter after last class
- Withdraw from "only class"
|
 |
| What if I Already Have a UCR NetID? |
A number of people have NetIDs including:
- Many UCR staff
- UCR students earning undergraduate and graduate degrees
- UCR Extension students and instructors in Blackboard and other online courses that began in Fall 2007 and earlier.
These are valid NetIds and may be used but first they must be processed by the new NetID Service system which will link your existing NetID to your UCR Extension online account.
Important: If you already have a NetID, please do not create another one. |
