As of November 2007, UCR Extension began participating in a campus-wide identification system that generates a NetID to provide access to the campus wireless network, online resources and classes using Blackboard. Additional information.
If you received, an e-mail with information for setting up a NetID account, you may follow the step-by-step instructions below.
Note: You must wait two hours from the time the e-mail containing your NetID instructions was sent before you can create the NetID. |
| Getting Started |
Once you receive an e-mail notification about your NetID, click on UCR Extension NetID Account Self-Service in the e-mail to set up your account. You will need the Service ID and Service Token from the e-mail to create your NetID.
Copy and paste the Service ID and Service Token from the e-mail into the appropriate fields on the UCR Extension NetID Service Web page. Click Login.
Note: The Service ID and Service Token are only used to create your NetID and cannot be used to access campus services, including Blackboard. |
| Accept the Policy Agreement |
In order to obtain a NetID, you must agree to accept the UCR Account Policies & Guidelines, and the UCR Wireless Policies and Guidelines. These two documents address the use of UCR's technology infrastructure by faculty, staff and students. |
| Create New Account or Use Existing Account |
If you don't already have a NetID, click the Get a New NetID button to set up your account.
If you already have a NetID, click Use My Existing NetID to link your UCR Extension NetID to your existing NetID.
PLEASE NOTE: If you were a student in a UCR Extension course that used Blackboard prior to November 2007, your previous Blackboard login is now your NetID. DO NOT create a new NetID. Instead click on the second button, "Use My Existing NetID."
Important: If you already have a NetID, please do not create another one. |
| New Account |
If you clicked Get a New NetID, the next step is to create a password for your account. The NetID will be assigned by the system. Enter your password twice, making sure that it's at least 6 characters, with a minimum of two alphabetic characters and one non-alphabetic character. |
| New Account - Bad Password |
If your password does not meet the requirements, you will need to try again. |
| New Account - Confirmation |
If you enter a valid password, you will see your NetID username. Write this down since no e-mail confirmation will be sent. If you forget your NetID, it can be retrieved for you by Student Services at UCR Extension, but there is no way for you to access the information yourself.
| Existing Account |
If you clicked Use My Existing NetID, enter your NetID and password in the appropriate fields and click Submit.
| Existing Account - Bad NetID or Password |
If your NetID or password is entered incorrectly, you will need to try again.
| Existing Account - Confirmation |
If you enter a valid NetID and password, you will see confirmation that your accounts have been linked. You may use your pre-existing NetID to access UCR Extension Blackboard or wireless services.
Blackboard users: If you are using your NetID for Blackboard, you will need to restart your browser before you can log in through ilearn.ucr.edu - CAS. If you enrolled in a course that uses Blackboard, you won't have access to the Blackboard course area until the next day.
Contact the academic department for your course if you have any problems with the NetID or Blackboard process. Additional help for Blackboard is available online. |
