Environment, Safety and Facilities Programs

Environmental Management Programs

Environment, Safety and Facilities programs are rooted in a philosophy that a broad, integrated understanding of the relationship between man, society and the environment will result in responsible planning and, ultimately, economic success. Extension does not simply train people to comply with regulations; it seeks to provide an understanding of the science, technology and social issues behind environmental issues and decisions.

In depth study is provided by Extension primarily through certificate programs. Through a series of courses, students gain a thorough background in an area from fundamentals to day-to-day developments professionals need to know. We also offer short, intensive programs especially designed for international needs.

Instructors and advisors for the programs are drawn from the University, regulatory agencies, environmental services fields, industry and community. Students include environmental compliance personnel, company managers, members of the regulatory community and individuals seeking career changes.

Additional short courses and technical workshops, which serve to keep professionals abreast of the latest technology and developments in this field, are offered by all campuses and by the statewide system.
