An introduction to biochemistry for high school teachers. Using the Next Generation Science Standards as a foundation, you will focus on the underlying concepts of structure and function as a core principle of biochemistry. Topics that will be explored at the introductory level will include:

  • laboratory safety
  • chemical equilibria
  • chemical structure
  • chemical properties
  • molecular dynamics
  • the relationship between structure and biological function

You will learn how to teach these subjects in an easy-to-understand and interesting manner in your high school classroom.

Prerequisites

Teaching experience in Biology and/or Chemistry at high school level required.
