Aging and Mental Health

There are a variety of mental health-related clinical disorders that impact the aging population disproportionately.  We will discuss:

  • Dementia
  • Alzheimer’s Disease
  • Neurocognitive Disorder
  • Parkinson’s Disease
  • Major Depressive Disorder

When working with this population, one should be familiar with how these psychological issues can impact global daily functioning. Review the basic elements of mental health care for this population, how these conditions impact quality of life, and the current different treatment modalities available.
