An introduction to Maker Education. Through lecture, group and online assignments, and hands-on activities, you will learn the principles behind the Maker movement and its connections to STEAM education. Innovative strategies and resources for including Maker-style, hands-on activities in a variety of educational environments such as classrooms, libraries, and community service spaces will be explored. You will also discuss:

  • ways to connect Maker Education to STEAM Education practices, NGSS, CCCS, Growth Mindset, Project based learning and curriculum standards
  • Maker strategies for your educational environment
  • resources available for developing Maker activities
  • how to plan a Makerspace for an accessible space
  • Maker activities that are immediately applicable to any environment
