Content and Methods for Teaching Advanced Placement Environmental Science

Environmental Science principles appropriate for introductory college environmental science (AP* level) are reviewed and discussed in terms of how to enhance student understanding and effect high Advanced Placement* Examination performance. The course examines important features of the required curriculum including earth systems and resources, the living world, population, land and water use, energy resources and consumption, pollution and global change.

Important Information:

  • This AP Summer Institute is endorsed by the College Board Advanced Placement Program. Includes breakfast, lunch, College Board materials, and parking.
  • College Board Scholarship recipients cannot register online. To register as a scholarship recipient, please mail or fax your completed Enrollment Form along with a Copy of your Letter of Commitment and Award Letter to Student Services. Please note that you will be invoiced for the total amount due if payment from the College Board is not received by the course start date. The registration for Scholarship Recipients may be processed for credit or non-credit.
  • School districts enrolling participants for APSI courses should pay for the non-credit fee. Non-credit registration is only available via a phone call with Student Services (951-827-4105) if paying with debit/credit card, OR by mail or by fax with a completed Enrollment Form. District POs cannot be processed online. Send POs along with a completed Enrollment Form for each participant to Student Services by mail or fax.
  • Participants registered for non-credit by school districts who wish to pay the additional $150 fee to receive credit (3 quarter units) should contact Student Services. The deadline to pay for credit is July 16,2019. A letter grade will be awarded to participants registered for credit (assignments due to receive credit will vary between courses).
  • Further detailed information regarding the course will be emailed to participants a few weeks before the course start date. 
  • Early Bird registration ($50 discount) expires on June 10, 2019. Enrollment form(s) and payment method must be received by Student Services prior to the expiration date, or the discount will be voided.
  • School District Discount ($70 off each registration) available when registering 4 or more participants on the same PO. For District discount codes,  contact the APSI Program Coordinator. District discounts are NOT available for online registration. District POs cannot be processed online. Send POs along with a completed Enrollment Form for each participant to Student Services by mail or fax.
