Emphasizes design synthesis, product definition, system modeling, identification of functional boundaries, interface control, requirements margin management and change management. Participants learn the dynamics of external and internal integration, design traceability, trade-off analysis, and configuration control. The course integrates specialty engineering topics, including reliability modeling, failure modes and effects analysis, criticality analysis, system safety analysis, human factors analysis, logistics and operations. Emphasis on the establishment of conformance verification processes including planning, design, development, system testing design, test and evaluation, process audit, configuration management and product acceptance.
