This course is designed as Part A of a two-part series and focuses on learning theories and factors influencing learning and teaching, current research of typical and atypical student growth and development and how that affects students' learning in school, community and family environments. Issues of both nature and nurture in pupils' growth such as health and developmental factors, language, ethnic and cultural diversity, and socioeconomic status are presented.
