Curriculum content, strategies, criteria and materials for teaching an AP Language and Composition class. Explore:

  • general concepts in rhetoric
  • rhetorical analysis
  • composition
  • analyzing the reasoning and expression of ideas in prose passages
  • expository, analytical and argumentation writing
  • hands-on curriculum development

You will also cover how to best prepare your students for the AP Exam. This course is specifically designed for instructors who have taught AP for two years or less.

Important Information:

  • College Board Scholarship recipients cannot register online. To register as a scholarship recipient, please mail or fax your completed Enrollment Form along with a Copy of your Letter of Commitment and Award Letter to Student Services. Please note that you will be invoiced for the total amount due if payment from the College Board is not received by the course start date. The registration for Scholarship Recipients may be processed for credit or non-credit.
  • School districts enrolling participants for APSI courses should pay for the non-credit fee. Non-credit registration is only available via a phone call with Student Services (951-827-4105) if paying with debit/credit card, OR by mail or by fax with a completed Enrollment Form. District POs cannot be processed online. Send POs along with a completed Enrollment Form for each participant to Student Services by mail or fax.
  • Participants registered for non-credit by school districts who wish to pay the additional $100 fee to receive credit (3 quarter units) should contact Student Services. The deadline to pay for credit is July 17, 2018. A letter grade will be awarded to participants registered for credit (assignments due to receive credit will vary between courses).
  • Further detailed information regarding the course will be emailed to participants a few weeks before the course start date. 
  • Early Bird registration ($50 discount) expires on June 11, 2018. Enrollment form(s) and payment method must be received by Student Services prior to the expiration date, or the discount will be voided.
  • School District Discount ($70 off each registration) available when registering 4 or more participants on the same PO. For District discount codes,  contact the APSI Program Coordinator. District discounts are NOT available for online registration. District POs cannot be processed online. Send POs along with a completed Enrollment Form for each participant to Student Services by mail or fax.
