The Nutrition and Physical Activity Self-Assessment for Child Care (NAP SACC) is an intervention training program for child care centers and family child care homes aimed at improving the nutrition and physical activity environments in early care and education facilities. The course is organized into five areas that include: 1) Childhood Overweight, 2) Nutrition for Children, 3) Physical Activities for Children, 4) Personal Health and Wellness for Staff, and 5) Policy and Practice. In addition to academic topics, policies and baseline nutrition and physical activity practices are accessed through self-assessment, followed by goal-setting and targeted technical assistance. Objectives of the course are to improve the knowledge of the nutritional quality of food served, amount and quality of physical activity, staff-child interactions, center nutritional and physical activity policies.
