The principles and practices of accounting and financial management within the sports industry will be analyzed, and you will be provided with a foundational understanding of financial analysis and capital structuring, with an emphasis on planning, decision making and control. Topics include:

  • revenue sources
  • income and expenditures
  • taxation
  • budgeting
  • forecasting
  • risk
  • the impact of unions

You will evaluate the influence of current economic trends and high-profile issues, both nationally and globally, on the individual organization and the sports industry as a whole.

Hart, B.A., Director of the Center for Family Business, California State University, Fullerton, has extensive experience in financial management within the sports industry including sales, marketing, operations, game day experience, personnel, budgeting, and forecasting for the franchise.  Mr. Hart has overseen budgets for several organizations, ranging from $100,000 to more than $5 million annually.
