This course provides a foundation in Career Technical Education (CTE) for Clear Single Subject and Multiple Subject credential holders who qualify for, and seek authorization to teach, CTE courses. Topics include:

  • Learning concepts and developmental skills, including instructional strategies for working with English-language learners and special needs students in CTE environments.
  • Classroom management.
  • Legal and ethical issues related to CTE.
  • The role of business and industry.
  • Career guidance strategies are addressed.

This course is designed to show educator competence in the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CCTC) Program Standards #8-16 for the Designated Subjects CTE credential.

Steele, Ed.D., Curriculum Developer, San Bernardino County Schools, specializes in practical approaches to classroom and school-wide discipline and behavior management that address the individualized needs of low-income English Language Learners, as well as chronic discipline and behavior offenders and strategies for K-12 teachers, counselors and administrators in Positive Behavior, Intervention, and Supports (PBIS) which focuses on collecting and analyzing data to determine the school overall climate and its current reality, and to develop (with the input from all stakeholders) a school-wide system that clearly defines how everyone within the system (administrators, certificated and classified staff, students and parents) behave around being "Responsible, Respectable, and Safe."
