Materials include five learning modules built on one singular SHRM Body of Competency and Knowledge designed to elevate the HR professional to national and international standards. The functional areas are leadership and navigation, business expertise, ethical practice, relationship management, consultation, critical evaluation, global and cultural effectiveness, and communication, as defined by Society for Human Resource Management-Certified (SHRM) Learning System. You will discuss and explore:

  • strategic management
  • workforce planning and employment
  • human resources development
  • compensation and benefits
  • employee and labor relations
  • occupational health, safety and security.

Intended for managers and staff with experience in general management or human resources management, including professionals wishing to take the SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP exams and those seeking career change and professional development. Offered in cooperation with the SHRM for the SHRM Certified Professional and Senior Certified Professional.

Pence, Ph.D., SPHR-CA, Adjunct Faculty, University of Redlands and Adjunct Online Faculty, Ashford University, has had a long career in human resources, working with many industries from large to small, and from financial to educational to manufacturing. Dr. Pence has served as the State Certification Director for CALSHRM.
