Increasingly, project management is becoming critical to implementing information systems projects on time and within budget. Project management skills and competencies needed for each step of an information technology project are discussed. Case studies demonstrate the skills needed to assess the size and scope of a project, risk management, communication and human resources management. The systems integration needed to make these mission-critical projects succeed is also covered, as are software tools and development issues.
