Orientation for Designated Subjects Credentials Program

This orientation to the Designated Subjects Credential Program provides individuals interested in obtaining a Designated Subjects teaching credential with an understanding of the eligibility requirements to become a Career Technical Education or Special Subjects teacher, an overview of the program’s structure, requirements, and processes for obtaining and clearing the credential. The orientation is mandatory for applicants entering UCR Extension's Designated Subjects Credential program for a CTE or Special Subjects teaching credential.

DS Career Technical Education Core for Single/Multiple Subject Teachers

This course provides a foundation in Career Technical Education (CTE) for clear Single Subject and Multiple Subject credential holders who qualify for and seek authorization to teach CTE courses. Candidates will explore learning concepts and developmental skills including instructional strategies for working with English learner and special needs students in CTE environments. Classroom management, legal and ethical issues related to CTE, the role of business and industry, and career guidance strategies are addressed. This course is designed to show educator competence in the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CCTC) Program Standards #8-16 for the Designated Subjects CTE credential.

Implementation of Health Instruction Framework for California Schools

Practical ideas to use in implementing the goals of the Health Instruction Framework for California schools. Topics discussed will include mental health, family health, infectious diseases, nutrition, and the physiological and sociological effects of abuse of alcohol, narcotics, drugs and the use of tobacco.

SDAIE - Specially Designed Academic Instruction Delivered in English to English Learners for SB1292 Staff Development Certificate of Completion

Certificate of Completion of SDAIE Authorization for English Learners designed for teachers holding one of the following: Designated Subject Credential, Vocational, Career Technical Education Credential, Special Subjects Teaching Credential, or Service Credential with a Special Class Authorization. This course covers the requirements under SB 1292 with 45 Hours of Instruction resulting in SDAIE Authorization for CCTC.


4.5 units

CPR and Basic First Aid

Basic first aid training that meets standards established by the Emergency Medical Services. This course will certify teachers who became credentialed in California after September 1, 1992 with training in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
