Systems Engineering Management

Examines the methodology used to design effective systems including operations and logistics, roles and responsibilities of key players and stakeholders, design verification, system validation, continuous improvement, risk management and project tracking. Time is also spent outlining how the systems engineering approach can be applied to specific projects within various industries and organizations. Participants are able to begin a real world project lifecycle throughout the course.

Systems Engineering Requirements and Analysis

Surveys the concept development and selection stage of systems engineering to examine how a project meets the needs of the end-user or customer. Participants examine practical constraints of a project including performance, risk, cost and schedule. Time is devoted to examine how multiple concepts for a specific need can be presented and how to perform trade-off analyses to identify the best concept to go forward to the requirements definition phase. Participants also explore the technical requirements to carry out a project including hardware and software and human resources necessary to ensure projects remain on time, on budget and on task.

Systems Engineering Design, Integration, Verification and Validation

Emphasizes design synthesis, product definition, system modeling, identification of functional boundaries, interface control, requirements margin management and change management. Participants learn the dynamics of external and internal integration, design traceability, trade-off analysis, and configuration control. The course integrates specialty engineering topics, including reliability modeling, failure modes and effects analysis, criticality analysis, system safety analysis, human factors analysis, logistics and operations. Emphasis on the establishment of conformance verification processes including planning, design, development, system testing design, test and evaluation, process audit, configuration management and product acceptance.
