The Richard (Dick) Stein Lecture Series Fund

"My father loved teaching at UCR Osher and facilitating conversation about current events. He always said, 'intelligent people can agree to disagree with civility.' That was one of his core values. He did not ask his students to agree with a particular point of view, rather to listen to one another and learn. That is especially important in today's polarized society, and one I know he would ask of his students to carry forward into their daily lives--with colleagues, friends, family members, and especially strangers."

"In his memory, I ask you to practice what he preached, and thank you so much for considering endowing this inaugural lecture series in his name." -- Ellen R. Stein
